Basti Treatment in PCMC – Ayurvedic Panchakarma Therapy
What is Basti ?
Basti is one of the important Panchakarma therapies in Ayurveda. In this procedure, medicated oils, herbal decoctions, ghee, milk, or other prescribed formulations are administered through the rectal route under the guidance of an Ayurvedic practitioner.
According to Ayurveda, an imbalance of Vata Dosha may contribute to various health concerns. Basti therapy is traditionally used to support the balance of Vata Dosha and promote overall well-being. Different types of Basti are prescribed based on an individual’s health condition and Ayurvedic assessment.
Basti is considered an important therapy in Panchakarma as it helps support the body’s natural cleansing processes and maintain doshic balance. Ayurveda describes Apana Vayu as a subtype of Vata Dosha associated with the normal functioning of the lower abdomen, including elimination and reproductive functions.
